HOW THIS WORKS
1. Record a 1-2 minute message with an inspiring word, some advice, a helpful resource, etc. Anything that could help ease the reentry journey for returning citizens.
2. We schedule your message and send a text to returning citizens, or as we say “New Neighbors”, first thing in the morning.

For citizens reentering society after being incarcerated, receiving a warm welcm could be the difference between a vibrant future or slipping back behind bars.
ENCOURAGE SOMEONE
When you record an inspiring message, Welcm will text your note directly to returning citizens. Every morning, they receive a new motivational message.
DRIVE IMPACT
By receiving wisdom and advice from criminal justice reformers, we hope to reduce recidivism by providing citizens with the direction needed to live full, productive lives.
By sending returning citizens "warm welcms", we hope to help reduce recidivism by 50% within the first 90 days of release.
For previously incarcerated individuals re-entering society, a warm welcome, continuous encouragement, and a sense of community could help reduce the possibility of rearrest. However, experiences like these are rare.
1 in 100 U.S. adults has gone to jail or prison. Even though the United States leads the world in incarceration, 95% of inmates are eventually released. As they transition from confinement to community, many returning citizens face societal and systemic challenges, making it difficult to successfully reacclimate back into society.
In addition to the negative stigmas caused by their criminal record, several formally incarcerated individuals deal with mental health issues. With the lack of empathy and accessible resources, these issues heighten. As a result, people are likely to re-offend within two years of release. More than 50% are reincarcerated.
As a member of the “Welcming Committee”, when you record words of encouragement or advice, Welcm will send your "warm welcm" directly to the returning citizens, or as we like to say, our New Neighbors. By receiving warm, personalized videos from a community, we hope to provide positive reinforcement that helps New Neighbors center their thoughts, emotions, and actions in ways that are conducive to a progressive self-image, lifestyle and transition back into society.
